Jennifer A. Thompson, CPA, CGMA (Chartered Global Management Accountant), joined the Swanson Hinsch & Co. team in 2016. With twenty-one years of public accounting experience and sixteen years as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of manufacturing and construction-related companies, she provides quality accounting, business and individual tax, and financial statement services, as well as, business strategic planning, consulting, assistance with budgeting and forecasting, costing and pricing models, system design and all the many trials and tribulations of the “real world” of manufacturing and construction.   Jennifer also has experience with agriculture, professional services (doctors, dentists, orthodontists, architects, etc.), insurance, retail, wholesale and distribution.

Jennifer won the 2004 National “Stevie Award” for Top Finance Executive at the American Business Awards, presented in New York City and judged by famous entrepreneurs, including Donald Trump and Anthony Robbins.   That same year, Jennifer was recognized as one of the Top Women in Finance by Minnesota’s Finance & Commerce magazine.

Jennifer graduated Summa Cum Laude from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 1980 with a double major in Accounting and Business Administration – Business Information Systems.  A member of the American Institute of Public Accountants and Minnesota Society of CPA’s, Jennifer has always kept her CPA certificate active by meeting continuing education requirements, including Annual Tax Updates.  

Jennifer’s current professional volunteer activities include participation on the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF) Leadership Circle and the Minnesota State University – Mankato College of Business Advisory Council.     

She has one adult married daughter and two beautiful grandchildren.   In her free time, she maintains her hobby farm where she practices Natural Horsemanship (some call her a Horse Whisperer), as well as training her Border Collies for sheep herding.
